Ben Affleck gave us more than just an incredible motion picture in “Argo”… He gave us hope…
It wasn’t just his beautiful nod to his wife and kids that stuck out to me in his Best Picture acceptance speech. Ben recalled that a decade earlier he had been accepting the award for Best Picture for “Good Will Hunting” and was young and naïve and not sure if he would ever make it back. He highlighted the struggle to make it back to the top and thanked those that helped him along the way
…and inspired the rest of us watching. He said, “You have to work harder than you think you possibly can. You can’t hold grudges. It’s hard but you can’t hold grudges. And it doesn’t matter how you get knocked down in life because that’s going to happen. All that matters is you gotta get up.”
Think for a moment…How many times have you been knocked down?? (Insert Chumbawamba joke here) …How many times did have you lost a deal? …Your job? …Your relationship?
We build character by the things that we overcome…and we certainly face a lot of obstacles in our lives.
Whether you rely on faith in your religion or faith in yourself—only one thing that matters when you are feeling that lowest of the low:
Everybody falls… “All that matters is you gotta get up”
Thanks Ben Affleck for inspiring America…Keep on ‘Tubthumping’!
